MARYVILLE, MO – Northeast Community College students finished in fourth place in sweepstakes for two-year colleges at the 2014 North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) Judging Conference held at Northwest Missouri State University here.
Northeast was one of 20 community colleges and 19 university teams to compete in the April 10-12 conference.
Northeast’s Crops Contest team placed second overall as well as in the math practical, lab practical, and written exam, and third in identification. Team members include Neal Fulton, Imperial, Dakota Cunningham, Wausa,Tyler Jaeger, Winside, and Courtnie Smith, Yutan.
Individually, Fulton placed first overall, first on lab practical, second on the written exam, third on identification, and fourth on the math practical. Jaeger placed fourth on the lab practical, fourth on identification, seventh on the written exam and seventh overall. Cunningham placed sixth on the lab practical, seventh on the math practical, and tenth overall.
Others participating in the Crops Contest were Carl Frisch, Lindsay, Matt Blunck, Osmond, and Adam Schlote and Dalson Hitz, Plainview.
In the Ag Communications Contest, the Northeast team of Danielle Schneider, Allen, Ashley Babl, Norfolk, Brianna Kumm, Osmond, and Kate Donker, Stickney, SD, placed second.
Northeast Community College finished second in the Ag Knowledge Bowl. Team members include a Babl, Cunningham, Fulton, Alex Bendig, Naper, and Tarrin Quinn, Winside.
In the Ag Mechanics Contest, Northeast placed second overall, second on the written exam, and second on practicum. Team members include Alik York, Creighton, Calvin Klassen, Lindsay, Nick Svoboda, Pender, and Stephen Schniedermeyer, Skidmore, MO.
Individually, Schniedermeyer placed third overall, first on practicum and fifth on the written exam.
Svoboda placed sixth overall, seventh on the written exam, and fifth on practicum. Klassen placed seventh overall, eighth on the written exam, and seventh on practicum. York placed eighth overall, sixth on the written exam, and eighth on practicum.
The Northeast Livestock Management placed second on the written exam, fifth on the practical, and fourth overall. Team members include Tarrin Quinn, Alex Bendig, Naper, Katrina Olmer, Norfolk, and Morgan Quinn,Winside.
Individually, Bendig placed second overall, first on the written exam, and second on practical. Tarrin Quinn placed eighth on the written exam.
In the Ag Computers Contest, Northeast placed fifth overall, fourth in applications, and fourth on the exam. Team members include Babl, Klassen, Jaeger, and Clay Easterday, Eustis.
Individually, Babl was ninth overall, ninth on the written exam, and ninth in applications, Easterday and Jaeger tied for seventh on the written exam.
Northeast claimed fourth place on the written exam and fifth overall in the Agribusiness Contest. Team members include Cunningham, Smith, Rodger Haselhorst, Randolph, and Megan Dreyer, Wisner.
Individually, Cunningham placed fifth overall, fourth on the written exam, and seventh in problem solving.
The Northeast Soils Judging Team also competed at NACTA. Team members include Schlote, Alex Ott, Blair, Garrett Gebhardt, Burwell, and Ryan Kaczor, Spencer.
